our house: a pinterest project – ruler height chart

oversized ruler height chart @ ordinarymom.ca

So I love pinterest (my boards are here). I have to make sure I am not on TOO often because there is a time vortex associated with it if you are to careful.

But sometimes there are projects on pinterest I really want to do. And this was one of them.

I wanted to make a ruler height chart.

But I wanted it to be EASY.

So I went to Home Depot and checked out their wood. I found some nice pieces of oak that are for finishing. I grabbed a piece that was 1 X 8 and 6ft tall. No sawing required! Nice.

I brought it home and sanded it, stained it and used chisel tip sharpie to draw my lines. And traced the numbers and coloured them in with a thinner sharpie marker. They aren’t perfect but who cares? ;)

Then I finished it with 2 coats of Varathane.

Hung up.

Done.

      Thanks Laurie!

I love that spot for it too. Now to just do the rest of the room behind me when I took that picture. ha!

It looks awesome!! I have had that on my list forever too. But she’ll probably be a teenager before I’m ever motivated to actually make one. Although, you make it sound pretty easy. :)

      haha! Thanks!

It was pretty easy in the end. Buying the pricier wood made a huge difference in the steps needed. But it still took me about a week with the waiting between each step (I wasn’t rushing).

      Thanks Heather…

I never thought that spot was bare since it is so narrow, but now I can’t imagine that area without the ruler! Funny how that happens. :)
